Welcome to the Mid Sutherland Community Land Trust
Mid Sutherland Community Land Trust is dedicated to serving the local community by preserving the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the places we call home, ensuring access to appreciate these throughout the year, and enabling and strengthening critical partnerships that build resilience and sustainability.

Committed to our home: creating a vibrant, resilient & sustainable place
Where is Mid Sutherland?
The Mid Sutherland area in Northern Scotland spans from the Dornoch Firth to the summit of Ben More Assynt, including the 5 rivers of the Kyle of Sutherland and surrounding highlands across Edderton, Ardgay & District, Creich, and Lairg community council areas.
Our Diverse Livelihoods
Local livelihoods include crofting, forestry, tourism and artisanal entreprises, many service trades, renewable energy, and economies of care, all of which are shaped by the rugged landscapes, mountain heritages, and long-standing resilience of our communities.
Conserving Nature
We aim to conserve forests, rivers, peatlands, biodiversity, and integrated social-ecological systems — through outreach and awareness, local resource management and other nature-based initiatives that contribute to the well-being of local highland communities.
Why a Community Land Trust?
A Community Land Trust is a non-profit organisation that owns or manages land and/or associated assets, on behalf of the community, ensuring that these remain accessible.
Partnering Together
We are open to collaborations with other nonprofits, mission-driven businesses, and public sector agencies to advance good land stewardship and deliver sustainable impact.
